A career in English is my calling
I recently became TEFL certified, completing my training with International TEFL Academy. Shortly after this certification, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. There I earned degrees in Political Science and Peace, War, and Defense. Additionally, I studied English as a minor. Through my studies, I have spent hundreds of hours reading and writing essays. Currently, I am working as a language coach at Camp Adventure, an outdoor summer camp headquartered in Walsrode, Germany.
So to advance my career as an English instructor I am now fusing my greatest passions – helping others, English, and a new adventure.
Teaching experience with students of all ages
I understand the influence that language acquisition can have on people’s personal and professional lives. Via online platforms, I currently meet with students who wish to improve their English skills for professional reasons. Therefore, I work with them on more complex grammatical structures, as to provide additional meaning, context, variation, and justification to their sentences. This includes: dependent clauses, gerunds, and shifting between passive and active voice. We practice these techniques through longer discussions such as essays, presentations, and back-and-forth email correspondence. For instance, my students and I constantly communicate through email to discuss and critique relevant news and issues.
As a language coach, I work with students between the ages of 13 and 17. I create entertaining and innovative lesson plans by intertwining language acquisition into current events, debates, fine arts, and camp related activities. We work rigorously to prepare students for the TOEFL iBT exam and academic careers.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I would be honored to help you reach your personal and professional goals. You can contact me at any time, so I hope to hear from you soon.
