Hello! My name is Briannon, I am a native English speaker, born and raised in the United States. I have moved around a lot, but spent most of my time growing up in Arkansas, right near the Ozark Mountains. I moved to Minnesota to attend Carleton College, where I majored in German and Political Science. Shortly after graduating, I began pursuing a Level 5 TEFL certificate with a goal of teaching English in Germany. General interests include film, music, philosophy, and cultural studies, which all influence my teaching.
In my teaching I prefer to exclusively use the target language, and rely heavily on eliciting spontaneous conversation from students. When learning with me, you will have frequent interaction with authentic materials produced in English. These materials include: current newspapers/magazines, movies, books, and songs that teach about American culture and language.
My teaching specialties include academic writing, presentation skills for academics and professionals, and regional studies with emphasis on the Midwest and Southern United States.
